Hi everybody, bruce Shooter here with the Mental Health Warrior Program podcast, no Surrender. Now today, in this episode, it's only going to be five minutes because we're going to put out some episodes here. That are the five-minute challenges. Now, why and what are they for? So the idea is, if you're struggling, we're going to have these short episodes to kind of get your warrior game back on track, to give you the power and motivation to go out and take on the day with one simple action each time. So in under a couple minutes here we're going to introduce the first one, and it is very powerful and it's something that you can do each and every day and it will provide results and provide you motivation. So I thought it was exciting. We're going to start with this one.
Speaker 1:This first challenge is when you're struggling, when you're having a down day. I want you to take five minutes to go talk to somebody about your mental health. Now, again, I know that sounds like a big challenge because maybe you're in the midst of challenges. The idea is family, friends, somebody that you've already been talking to. We just want you to actually share with them how you feel. I want you to be honest and share with them as a mental health warrior. I am going to start talking to people about this Now. I'm going to on this first challenge, though give you a little out, if you will, a little chance to make this one a little bit easier, because a lot of times, the first person we need to start talking to and say it's okay to talk about our mental health is ourselves. Because you may get in conversations about mental health and I found this when I was in conversations early on and starting to talk out loud yes, out loud about mental health it felt so odd and so uncomfortable that it actually made me more nervous, more anxious, because I hadn't practiced it and learned that skill and because a lot of times we were taught we don't talk about our emotions out loud. We were taught we don't talk about our emotions out loud. So in order to do this and start talking to others, the first person we need to get comfortable with is ourselves. So in this challenge, one of the things you can do is take five minutes and go ahead and talk to yourself and accept and process your emotions. Now, I know, know, that may sound well. What does that do for a warrior? You know warriors are out there doing battle. But in order to do battle, we have to have a solid foundation and a solid game plan, and part of that plan is learning to talk about our emotions, learning to accept them, and the best and the most powerful way to do that is to say them out loud, to start thinking about them out loud even so. That's why I'm challenging you.
Speaker 1:If you haven't set this up where you can talk to family and friends yet, it's okay to use this first challenge and to use this time to talk to yourself and reassure yourself. Hey, it's okay if you're struggling. I do this a lot. I have these challenges, and sometimes I like to think, no, I'm a mental health warrior, Nothing should bother me. And I have to basically right the ship by saying no, bruce, you will have challenges.
Speaker 1:Warriors are not impervious to challenges, but we know we can triumph over them, because life will always bring you challenges, kind of a one plus one equals two. When you're going through the day, you will run into challenges and the key is, in order to get to number two and be able to triumph over them, we have to be warriors who are comfortable with those emotions. So just try to enjoy this, just. But if you're struggling. This is my call to do it today. Don't want to hear any excuses, don't want to hear that you're going to do it tomorrow. I want you to do it today and again, if that means first talking to yourself because you haven't done that or you don't accept your emotions, please by all means, do that today, now, if you have and you're a little more comfortable on them.
Speaker 1:The next step, or maybe for tomorrow, take this challenge again and talk to somebody. If you're struggling a bit, maybe your emotions came up on a work project, maybe they came up for some personal stressors, and you could talk to family and friends, but let them know you're struggling and let them know, though, you're a mental health warrior and you're gonna keep going, and you know what It'll make for a great conversation. I guarantee it because there have been tons of times I have started conversations with complete strangers and we both walked away from a five-minute conversation benefiting, because we were able to talk about our mental health out loud and gain power from that. So there's your challenge. Hope you're excited. We're just at the five minute mark.
Speaker 1:I said I'd keep these short. They're powerful little challenges we're going to put out, so these will be mixed in amongst the other podcast episodes. And again, always remember, you can find more information and more info about these challenges even at BruceShootercom. You can type in Mental Health Warrior program out there in Google or any of the search engines and find us and keep your warrior power intact and going and growing. And again, I'm getting so excited I'm going over the top and can't even figure out my own words, so I guess I better slow down, take this challenge and process my emotions. Thanks and I look forward to seeing you next time. Talk to you later, bruce signing out.
