Bruce Schutter Season 1 Episode 25

What if you discovered that the key to conquering life's challenges lies in something as simple as having fun? Join me, Bruce Schutter, in the latest episode of the Mental Health Warrior Program Podcast, No Surrender, as we embark on a five-minute challenge to remind ourselves of Mindset Rule 10: "Have Fun!" We'll dissect why it's crucial to incorporate joy into our daily routines and how it propels us forward on our mental health journeys.

In this episode, I share personal anecdotes and actionable tips on carving out moments of joy. Whether it's indulging in a scoop of ice cream, pushing through a tough workout, or simply savoring a favorite song, these small moments of joy can have a big impact.

Stress, anxiety, and endless to-do lists often overshadow the joy that can be found in everyday life. As mental health warriors, it's easy to forget the importance of fun in maintaining emotional balance. This episode isn't just a reminder; it's a call to action. By integrating fun into our lives, we not only manage our mental health better but also enrich our overall well-being.

So, take this challenge to heart and redefine what fun means to you. Because at the end of the day, it's these joyful moments that fuel our resilience and keep us motivated on our path to mental wellness.

Speaker 1:

Hi everybody, bruce Shooter here with the Mental Health Warrior Program Podcast no Surrender. Now we've got another five-minute Mental Health Warrior Challenge for you today. So these episodes are just five minutes long, and in it we're going to touch on one thing you can do, or one tool that you can do, to take charge, to triumph over challenges. Just to make the day better of over challenges. Just to make the day better. So today, on a lot of these. Now you know my favorite, some of my favorite warrior tools are the mindset rules I created. Now there's 53 of them, but I want you to remember mindset rule number 10 today.

Speaker 1:

10 is pretty straightforward, and I think it's important, though, because a lot of times, the simple solutions are the most powerful. Mindset Rule 10 says have some fun. Yep, that's it. Now you're probably saying well, thank you, bruce, we now have four minutes and 58 seconds left. Well, that's true, but the reason this is so important is Mindset Rule 10 reminds you why you're doing this, why you became a warrior, why you're working so hard to build your tools to take charge of your mental health and therefore take charge of your life and to triumph over challenges, because all those things coalesce, all those things end up with. The result is we want to live life, and that's what Mindset Rule 10 is about is reminding us to have some fun, because that is what life is about.

Speaker 1:

Now, your definition of fun. You get to fill that in, but it can be anything from going to get ice cream to going on a bike ride, to even going to do a hard workout or even going to tackle a project at your house apartment. You may say, well, that sounds like work, but to some people that's fun. So you get to again, as a warrior, you always get to choose what tools work for you. Well, in this case, you also get to choose what the word fun means. But remember, you'll only get that choice because you are a mental health warrior and you're working hard each day alongside of me and other warriors to keep and manage our mental health, to take charge of it and to triumph over our challenges so that we can have these exciting things, so we can have fun. And if it's going out and doing a tough workout outside, hey, that's one of the things I like to do. If it's going outside and having ice cream, well, hey, that's one of the things I like to do. If it's going outside and having ice cream. Well, that's also a thing I like to do, although I like to have the sugar-free version. Any of those things, they can be fun and they are why we work so hard, and that's why I put Mindset Rule 10 into the play and that's why I'm bringing it up today as the five-minute action you can take as a mental health warrior. I want you to remember that, and even that fun could be just something simple. It can be just something like next time you complete something at work or at home, those projects, bring out Mindset Rule 10 and remind yourself just celebrate a little, go have some fun. Maybe it's stop for a soda on the way home from work, take five minutes to listen to a great song in your car, as the day is beautiful, we're in summertime here and just enjoying the day. There's some fun.

Speaker 1:

All a result of you managing your emotions as a mental health warrior and staying in control. Because I can certainly tell you before, when I was filled with anxiety, when every day felt like a torture of how to handle all the pressure, everything was so over the top. Well, I never had any fun, and even if I got through the day, I always forgot this mindset rule, but no longer, because, as a warrior, you and I are empowered with these mindset rules. They remind us of these certain truths that, when we bring them into the light of each day, well, they are fantastic for keeping us out of trouble, keeping our emotions centered, and getting us out of trouble too a little bit. If you get stuck and you are just frantic with overwork, too many deadlines, stressful jobs, stressful things, you can still remember mindset rule 10 and apply it, like I mentioned, your way home.

Speaker 1:

Stop and get that soda, take two minutes to listen to a song, park at a park, just for a few minutes to center your emotions. Because, again, that little bit of fun gives us the reasons why we work so hard, but it also shows us the results that will inspire us to work so hard. So it's a double win, it's reward and motivation. Now that's pretty exciting. There are plenty of other things like this with the Mental Health Warrior Program and we're going to wrap up here. But remember, you can always go to BruceSchutercom type in Mental Health Warrior Program, go to bruce shootercom type in mental health warrior program.
